take boats from Alicante, Guardamar & Torreveija if you would like a longer boat ride.

This is a small resort that has two distinct areas, the old village which is on the coastal side
of the N332 road and the more recent development of which is on the inland side of the road.

It has a nice 2 km groomed beach and you can walk amongst the sand
dunes in the protected area of El Pinet Parque and picnic under the palm trees.

In land there is another Park
El Oasis Natural Location

where there is aBBQ area with picnic tables, (toilets & washing up facilities),
football pitch,boules area, small manmade lake & a terrace with panoramic views.

Market on Thursday & Sunday mornings.

Guardamar

Guadarmar Blue Flag Beach

The blue flag beach of Guardamar said to be one of the best in Costa Blanca
(it is without question the best in the area) with miles & miles of golden sand (free parking).

Guardamar is a Spanish seaside resort and has a lovely
promenade where there are restaurants to suit every pallet and budget.

La Mata & The Salt Lakes

Salt Lakes

a protected area of natural beauty.

La Mata is the main entrance with a very good
Visitor Centre Location.

We believe there are 4 entrances to the Salt Lakes but have not been able to find any details, however we think the nearest entrance would be near Los Montesinos 9 km - 11 Minutes.

Torrevieja

TheOldTowerTorre

Torrevieja in Spanish 'Torre Vieja' means 'Old Tower' and like many places started as a fishing village. It is now a large town which while benefiting from tourism still has that feel of visiting the real Spain.

Getting There - Top Tip

Torrevieja has many narrow one-way streets & stop signs, follow the signs for
The Tourist Information Office
which is very well signposted from the outskirts of the town,
you will also see signs for the Marina.

Parking

There is free parking on the streets but we would suggest that you park in the large car park right on the front by the Marina, it is very reasonable and you will be near everything.

Markets

Right by the car park you will find the daily Craft Market
approximately 100 stalls selling jewellery, shoes, handbags etc.

The Main Market is held every Friday Morning and has
approximately 1,200 stalls, it is said to be one of the largest in Spain

The Promenade

Just to the right of the car park you will see a promenade with many bars & restaurants and musicians playing, this is a great place to sit and watch the world go by while enjoying the lovely sea views.

Playa del Cura, Locos, Náufragos & La Mata.

but the one that is great for all the family is the
Floating Submarine Museum
 please note there is a height restriction of 1.15 m.

Parks

There are a few parks dotted around the town but the 'must visit' is
Parque Las Naciones Location
it is very pretty and has a nice play area for children.

We have not been able to find a website for the park but it has wild birds, peacocks ducks, hens & a small animal sanctuary. There is a European shaped lake displaying all the European flags where you can hire pedalos & small electric boats.

There is also a small quaint church, a train that goes around the park, a café & the children's favourite a large dinosaur climbing tower.

Punta Prima to San Pedro de Pinatar

Between Torreveija & San Pedro del Pinatar there are many small beach resorts and while they cannot match the beach at Guardamar they all have their own unique attractions.

Punta Prima

Just 5 km & a 5 minute drive or a 1 1/2 hour walk all along the seafront south of Torreveija is
Punta Prima a small seaside resort which has some lovely villa's between the main road and the beach.

It has two beaches and a promenade.

They have a very good
Go Karting Track.

There is a choice of bars & restaurants but the one we
can personally recommend with lovely views of the sea is the
Nautilus
.

Playa Flemenca

20 km 25 minutes

This is a small beach resort which was an attractive but barren
coast until 1972 when some Flemish investors developed the area.

There is a busy Market on Saturday mornings.

La Zenia

25 km 25 minutes

Calling all Shoppers - La Zenia maybe small but it is now
home to the largest shopping centre in the Alicante Province
La Zenia Boulevard Shopping Centre

it's more than just shopping.

If you are missing a pint of Guinness then visit the famous
Paddy's Point Bar

which claims to be first Irish Pub on the Costa Blanca. Live music every night.

Forget the car for the next destination Cabo Roig and take
The Costal Walk

try and walk in both directions as you will notice different sights along the way.

There are two beaches Cala Capitan & Cala Caleta and a nice & recently refurbished

The many bars & restaurants are mostly based in what is known as The Strip
but one of the most unusual is the 16th Century Watch Tower which overlooks the Marina.

Take a picturesque Cliff Top Walk from Cala Caleta Beach in Cabo Roig to La Zenia.

Can we draw your attention to Parque Regional Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro a must for Bird Watchers.

There is also a good Visitor Centre Location.

Do not miss the Mud Baths its great fun, your skin feels wonderful, the kids love it and it's Free.

Top Tip - Explore the Mud Baths at the beginning of your holiday to exfoliate the skin ready to create that golden tan.

La Manga

an extra 5 km and 5 minutes

Officially San Pedro del Pinatar this should be our last stop on our 30 Minute Tour however, if you travel just a further 5 km and 5 minutes you will reach Santiago de la Ribera where you can catch a ferry to Puerto Tomas Maestre on the La Manga Strip Locations with Mar Menor Ferry.

We figured as you were on holiday you would not mind the extra 5 minutes and we couldn't leave La Manga out of our tour.

For a feel of the real Spain explore Rojales where you will find many more shops, bars and restaurants.

The Thursday morning Market is worth a visit & a great place to stock up on fresh produce for your stay.

For the younger generation there are Discos & Nightclubs until the early hours of the morning.

Benijófar

A village of 4,000 permanent inhabitants just outside Quesada.

It has a very nice Square with a charming Church.

The Tuesday morning Market is small but unusual with an Arabic feel.

There is a marked Walking Trail which includes the Rio Segura River.

Between Quesada & Benijófar there is an amazing Chinese Bazar Location it's the
size of an aircraft hanger and sells everything you never knew you needed or indeed existed.

Elche

25 km 30 minutes

Elche

Elche is known as the City of Palms as it is situated in the largest palm forest in Europe and we can personally recommend a visit.

As this is a city there is so much to see & do we will direct you to their excellent
Tourist Information

Ladies - Elche is known for its shopping especially Shoes, it has an outlet the size of a football pitch.

Every year on 13th August it has a huge Firework Display but be prepared for a late night as it starts at 23:15 and goes onto midnight.

Embalse de la Pedrera

Embalse de la Pedrera Location is a manmade Reservoir.

May we suggest a pleasant mornings trip, drive around the lake stopping to enjoy the views and wildlife then stop at the small village of Torremendo where you can lunch at
La Rebate Restaurant

You can make the trip a complete loop driving the shorter distance of 20 km via the AP7 and then returning via CV920 24 km 33 minutes or visa versa.

San Miguel

A short drive from Embalse de la Pedrera is the quaint inland village of San Miguel Location with the traditional church square.

They have an excellent Tourist Website where they claim 'that if it's not on this website it doesn't happen in San Miguel'.

Crevillente

Crevillente

Crevillente Location sits at the foot of a mountain range in a very dry area of Spain.

As you approach you realise that this an industrial town but it dates back to the 12th Century and the Old Town is an interesting to visit with many narrow streets.

The town is world famous for its Hand Woven Carpets easily recognisable by the Alfombras de Crevillente Logo borne by each and every one.

5 Minutes drive is the reservoir Pantà de Crevillent with some breath taking views.

Callosa de Segura

22 km 26 minutes

So called because it sits at the base of the imposing Callosa de Segura Mountain.

It is a large town and has a good Tourist Information website that includes La Pilarica Serra de Collosa Parque.

The town boast one of the Best Indoor Markets in the province of Alicante.

Parc Natural El Fondo

21 km 25 minutes

San Felip Neri is a small hamlet with a large church and central square, here you will find the Visitor Centre Location for the El Fondo Park.

The park has picnic benches, 4 km Walking Trail with information boards and a 16 km Cycle Route.

This area is a Special Protection Area for Birds and has twitching huts.
