This can be arrange locally if you would rather hire a for just a few
days during your holiday, some companies will deliver the car to the villa.

Open Car & Directions 3.8 km - This one seems quite expensive.

Local/Airport Car Hire

Arrow Rent a Car & Directions 3.4 km - is a company based in Quesada who will deliver your car to the airport.
You will be met in Arrivals by someone who will show you to the car parked in the airport car park.

Sometimes you can get caught in long queues at the car rental desks
(we have waited for over an hour), this company claims you will not be kept waiting.

Baby & Booster Seats

Care This can easily add up to £25/£30 per Child per Week which considerably increases the cost of your car hire and so needs to be taken into account when looking at overall cost.

If you need them from the airport then Arrow Rent a Car supplies them for Free.

If you don't need them straight away then you can hire them from The Hire Centre for Euro 24 for 2 Booster Seats for 2 weeks, a huge saving compared to the airport car hire companies. They will even deliver them to the villa for free.

Airport Car Hire - Don't Get Caught Out with Fuel & Insurance Charges.

Personally we would recommend hiring a car to enjoy all the area has to offer. It is still relevantly in-expensive and by the time you pay for Airport Transfers it becomes very inexpensive.

Apologies this section is a little long but it is worth reading, as I have learnt to my cost, by paying for Fuel & Insurance that I didn't use or need.

We are often asked which is the best company to hire from - prices change depending on time of year, type of car, fuel policy etc. so it is always easier to use a Comparison Site. If you are going in peak times the earlier you book the better.

The best Comparison Site is The Travel Supermarket You can see at a glance if the operator is actually located at the airport. Click on the Rental Details tab for their Fuel Policy, very important for short breaks over 3 days.

Fuel Policy - This is a bit of a minefield, when looking at the daily cost of the car it is very important to take into account the Fuel Policy Costs.

Short Breaks - The majority of companies will charge you for a full tank of fuel (charging 20% extra - we have paid Euro 70 for a Ford Fiesta) if you are hiring for 4 days or more & ask you to return empty.

If you are only driving to & from the airport and pottering around locally you will be unlikely to use more than 1/4 of a tank so this can work out very expensive. If hiring for 3 days or less then nearly every company will let you book using the Full to Full option with no extra charges.

Travel Supermarket - Gives you the option to select either Full to Empty or Full to Full - When you opt for Full to Full the cost of the car will rise so you need to take into account the difference in cost and how much fuel you think you will use. Sometimes a company will offer a refund of the fuel you do not use (this usually brings the cost of hire down from Full to Full) which means that you can actually return Full so avoiding their costly fuel charges - I did say it was a minefield.

If you are renting for longer and think you will use most or all of your fuel then it is not such a big issue.

Insurance - Check the insurance policy carefully, in our experience even when we have known that we are Fully Insured every company has always tried to sell us additional insurance.

Airport Location - If you are hiring form the airport then the car hire companies are located just outside Arrivals. If there are two or more of you and you need to collect luggage it can be advantageous for one of you to make your way to the car hire companies while the others wait for the luggage. This will help to beat the queues during busy periods.

Public Transport

Even if you are hiring a car sometimes it's nice to take the bus (these are air-conditioned coaches) especially if you fancy a long leisurely lunch.

The Agostense Bus Company Timetable Main route Guardamar to Orihuela via Quesada & Rojales.

There is a small Tourist Office in the town centre of Quesada and apparently they can give you an up to date Bus Timetable. We have not been able to find a link to a website but as soon as we do we will update it onto our website.

Free Bus to Habaneras Shopping Centre just outside Torrevieja from Rojales & Quesada on Wednesday, Friday's & Saturdays from Rojales Bus Stop Directions. The Bus Stop in Quesada is in the town centre by the Arches, we are not sure of its exact location (just ask in one of the bars), when we do we will add it to this website.

Free Bus to Cartagena This is not an official site so it may be wise to phone first which you have to do to reserve your seat.

Costa Azul Bus Company connects many of the main towns, the nearest stop to Quesada is Guardamar.
